Properties: Universally applicable, resorbable, heat-treated bone grafting material in the granule size 250-1,000 µm. The patented low-temperature process preserves the natural collagen matrix in the porcine or equine bone structure. The cancellous particles resorb more quickly and provide space for the body's own bone growth. The cortical particles stabilise the volume. The collagen content supports the formation of a blood coagulum and promotes the subsequent sprouting of regenerative cells, which favours the restoration of lost bone. Due to its hygroscopicity, Gen-Os® is an excellent carrier for medication.
Composition: Nanocrystalline, carbonised, corticospongious bone granules (250-1,000 µm), radiopaque, porcine or equine.
Re-entry: 5-7 months, depending on defect morphology and other factors.
Handling: Gen-Os is enriched with a few drops of sterile saline solution or patient blood to activate the collagen matrix and promote adhesion of the granules to each other. Gen-Os expands by approx. 50 vol-% after hydrogenation.
